Following the example of the police label Safe Living in the Netherlands (PKVW), the provincial governor of Flemish Brabant, in collaboration with the Geel-Laakdal-Meerhout police area, took the initiative to implement the Burglary Security Certificate. In consultation with experts in the sector, effective standards and minimum requirements were established, enabling a home to offer a minimum resistance of 3 minutes in the event of a burglary. After advice and control by the burglary prevention advisor, a home that meets the required security standards will receive a certificate, a facade plaque and a sticker.
The Security Burglary Certificate will be launched on Friday 8 September in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister Jan Jambon and Governors Cathy Berx and Lodewijk De Witte.
