BENOR is the recognized quality label in Belgium for construction products. This label addresses the market's demand for independent and reliable certification of construction products' conformity with standards and technical specifications, as well as their specific suitability for use.

The BENOR label is managed and controlled by all relevant stakeholders: private and public clients, certified material producers, contractors, architects, insurers, design and project offices, collective research centers, independent inspection and certification bodies, etc.

BENOR-IC (Intrusion Class)

Guaranteeing the quality of facade elements against attempted intrusion or the quality of interior doors against escape or evasion attempts can only be achieved through targeted tests and ongoing quality monitoring.

It was based on this observation, and primarily to address an issue with security doors used in youth institutions, that the BENOR-IC label was initiated. Originally developed to meet the specific needs of interior doors, this label was subsequently extended to exterior doors at the request of some manufacturers.

The applicable requirements are those mentioned in standard EN 1627, supplemented by stricter additional dynamic tests. Within the scope of this regulation, only classes RC2, RC3, RC4, RC5, and RC6 are recognized.

The BENOR IC label currently defines 5 different classes:

  • BENOR-IC2
  • BENOR-IC3
  • BENOR-IC3+50
  • BENOR-IC4
  • BENOR-IC5

BENOR-I3

The BENOR I3 label was launched in 2021 and guarantees resistance to burglary for a duration of at least 3 minutes. Three minutes may seem short, but it's important to know that 95% of burglars give up for fear of being detected if they cannot gain entry within that time. More information here.
