In certain very specific cases, such as fire cabinets, or with industrial risks such as rolling mills or other situations where local applications are put in place, it is possible to measure the concentration of extinguishing gas. The most common measurements concern O2 (for all inert gases) or CO2 (the most commonly used gas, and the only one acceptable for the protection of non-confined objects).

These measurements are used to check that if activated, the gas extinguishing system will fulfil all its performance levels, not only for ejection time, which remains a very important parameter in the extinguishing process, but also for flooding time (if applicable), which is key to guaranteeing that the fire will not be reignited.
