Some tips to welcome Saint Nicholas and Santa Claus safely!
- Have your chimney swept at least once a year by a professional and ask for a certificate.
- This is even compulsory under some fire insurance policies and in some municipalities.
- Use a stove with the right power for the room in which it is placed.
- Only burn dry, natural and untreated wood.
- Do not burn painted wood, chipboard, old paper, cardboard or multiplex wood... White or colourless smoke is a sign of good combustion.
- Always use the right fuel for your stove.
- Never throw rubbish down the chimney to burn!
- Ventilate the room sufficiently during combustion. In order to ensure a good draught in the chimney, it is essential that there is sufficient fresh air in the room.
- Do not use your open fire as a grill.
