Belgian legislation on protection against theft is essentially linked to the Belgian Law of 10 April 1990 governing private and personal security (also known as the Tobback Law) and primarily covers the quality of security installations and those who work on them.

This currently concerns:
- security companies
- management of alarm monitoring stations.
Other matters are also regulated:
- surveillance cameras
- cash in transit boxes and the transportation of valuables.
