The security world has become aware of the 'cyber fragility' of connected devices, this is further compromised when the connected devices are protection and security equipment!
From 2013 to 2019, the number of vulnerabilities in IOT devices has doubled. There is now an urgent need to impose cyber protection standards on IOT equipment and especially on connected fire and burglary protection equipment and components. Without strong cyber protection, these will become unreliable gadgets.
ANPI, like all the other actors working to maintain a high level of quality in protection products, intends to support the various recent initiatives in this direction and calls for a practical and unique framework for testing data security and fire and theft protection technologies.
At the normative level, the work of the International Electrotechnical Committee (IEC) focuses on the standards in the IEC 62443 series "Security for industrial automation and control systems". The European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) has published a technical specification TS 103 645 Cyber security for consumer internet of things.
The new VdS guideline 3836 "Cyber security for systems and components" defines the overall requirements for user and access management, secure data storage and transmission as well as validation of interface inputs by users or other devices.
