With many complaints filed each year, the home repair services offered by locksmiths are the most exposed to the risk of scams.
This affects the reputation and image of the profession and is leading consumers to call for stricter supervision of locksmiths' activities.
On the initiative of the Secretary of State for Consumer Protection Eva De Bleeker, the professional groups, namely the National Federation of Locksmiths (FNS), the Vlaamse Slotenmakers Unie (VSU) and the BonSerrurier.be platform, have adopted a code of conduct and a voluntary certification procedure.
At the end of this procedure, which involves a quality certificate issued by a conformity assessment body, the FPS Economy will issue an identification card that every good locksmith must present to his customers.
ANPI always aims at guaranteeing the quality of products and services and therefore fully supports this initiative, which aims above all at promoting public confidence in a basic means of protection against theft - the lock!
Since January 2022, ANPI is in charge of inspection visits and ensures during its checks that locksmiths comply with this code of conduct.
The official list of all signatory and recognised professional locksmiths can be found on the website of the FPS Economy.
