Any device that is connected to the internet, but is not properly secured, can be hacked.
That's the conclusion of a new comparison test by Test-Achats, which evaluated 12 waterproof IP security cameras. Installed on the outside of a property, these cameras can be used to remotely monitor a home or garden, with the owner being informed via a notification on their smartphone. The consumer association reveals serious security flaws in some products: unsecured default settings, remote control by hackers and unencrypted data. Test Achats concludes that manufacturers still pay too little attention to the security of their digital products and calls for stricter security standards.
