Decree of the Flemish Government of 13 July 2018 amending the regulation on specific fire safety standards for elderly care facilities and convalescent homes and on the technical commission for fire safety in facilities of the policy area 'Welzijn, Volksgezondheid en Gezin' (Welfare, Public Health and Family).

This decree of the Flemish authorities sets new fire safety standards for facilities for the elderly and convalescent homes. This decree comes into force on 1 October 2018.

In addition to a terminological clean-up, the decree introduces various changes to the definition of 'service centres' and 'assisted living' as well as to the operating procedures and the procedures for applying for a derogation from the Technical Commission for Fire Safety in Welfare, Public Health and Family structures of the Flemish Government.

Annex 1 sets out the various fire protection measures to be applied to structures for the elderly, residential care centres, day care centres, short-stay care centres, local service centres and convalescence centres.

Annex 2 sets out the different fire protection measures to be applied to assisted living groups (service flats).

Annexes 3 and 4 concern the fire safety certificate and declaration forms.
